COCKPIT COUNTRY
ST. JAMES

The topography here demonstrates the mountainous and wooded terrain of the area inhabited by the Maroons.  British "red-coats" trying to enter the area would be spotted by the Maroons, who would use their "abeng," made from a cow horn, to signal the other Maroons in the area.
