WESLEYAN METHODIST BAPTISMS

Some of the original registers from Wesleyan Methodist Churches on the island have been given to the Jamaica Archives in Spanish Town for preservation (see Places in which to do Research in Jamaica). These baptisms are now being transcribed and placed on this site over a period of time.

Evidently the pages in the records of baptisms in this circuit for 1839 to 1892 became loose. To prevent a further loss of pages, at some point in time the loose pages were bound together, but not in date order, and page numbers were then assigned to the bound pages. Each entry spread across the left and right hand pages, which were assigned one page number. The page numbers transcribed here are therefore not in date order.
The dates included in the first 130 double-pages of the first Register of Baptisms from Brown's Town are:
March 1839 to March 1861
